Request for Nominations
For the
MARJORIE WEDELL MEMORIAL AWARD

Marjorie Wedell was affiliated with District 69 for 37 years, first as a teacher, then for the last 25 years of her life as a principal of Kenton School and Madison School.  Many remember her as a person dedicated to learning, teaching, and giving of herself to children and adults alike.

Lincoln Food Drive

Lincoln Junior High students and staff came together to help those in need this holiday season with the annual Food Drive. Through a homeroom competition, students and teachers donated close to 3,000 items to the Niles Township Food Pantry. The winning homerooms each will receive a fun lunch with a can of pop and a slice of pizza. Congratulations to the following homerooms for their awesome efforts: Mrs. Ogrodowski, Mr. Jonas, Mrs. Brendel and Mrs. Hoellerich! Many homerooms donated over 100 items and the enthusiasm continued all week. With the help of the Skokie Fire Department, items were loaded and delivered to the food pantry. The food drive was organized by Lincoln's Student Government, a 6th through 8th grade club that organizes student activities and service projects.

Common Core Curriculum

Dear Parents and Stakeholders of District 69,

I am happy to share some good news about a recent update to our website. Part of our commitment to improving education for our students is the establishment of a guaranteed and viable curriculum. As Illinois and the United States move to a National Common Core, we in District 69 are working hard to transition as well. Part of our commitment to improvement also includes transparency with you, our stakeholders. Check out the website and note the common core tab on the right hand side of every page. I encourage you to click on this tab and explore! It is a great opportunity for you to learn more about what our children need to know and be able to do.

Quintin Shepherd, Ph.D.
