Ms. Peters

Ms. Peters

Mrs. Peters has taught music in District 69 for the past 13 years.  She taught General Music at Madison and Eidson for 6 years and then moved into the orchestra position at Lincoln and Edison 7 years ago.  Mrs. Peters has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Washington and  Master of Music from the University of Illinois in Piano Perfromance with a minor in Violin.  She earned her teacher certification from Trinity International University.  Mrs. Peters lives with her husband, three childern and three cats.  She enjoys participating in triathlons and often rides her bike to work to get  in more workouts.   Evereyone in her house plays several musical instruments, so it is not uncommon to hear music coming from her house at all hours of the day or night!

Beatles songs uploaded to youtube!

Mrs. Peters has uploaded three Beatles songs to her youtube account:  JABPeters.  Fifth graders are learning these songs for their Spring Sing.  They might have fun singing along with Mrs. Peters and her piano accompaniment.  The three songs are:  Let It Be, Yesterday and When I'm 64.  Have fun!

Beginning Orchestra Students earn Karate Belts

Karate Belts for Orchestra

At Edison School, all students are familiar with karate belts for music learned in Recorder Karate.  Now Beginning Orchestra students can earn different colored belts (brightly colored strings tied to the scrolls of their instruments) as they learn the key pieces  they will be performing at their end-of year concert.  So far, some students have learned all the variations on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and the others are motivated to catch up.  Orchestra students are excited to play by themselves in front of other students in order to earn their belts and are practicing more at home.

Orchestra Odyssey

The Lincoln Orchestra recently performed at the Orchestra Odyssey, held at Niles West High School, on January 12. Lincoln students worked with orchestra students from Lincoln Hall in the morning on two pieces: Shufflin the Strings and Colors of the Wind. Seventh grader, Nicole Cho, played the solo part in Shufflin the Strings. Eighth graders then worked with students from Niles West High School on Follow the Drinking Gourd. Even with the snow, we came back and played a beautiful concert that evening with students from: Culver, Parkview, Fair View and Niles West High School. Stephen Hobson was our guest clinician.
