4th Grade Units

Reading: The stories we read this year will cover the following topics-Growing Up, Making a Difference, The Power of Words, Working Together, Habitats, and Problem Solving. Some of the reading strategies we will cover are- summarizing, author's purpose, predicting, questioning, visualizing, and infering.  

Math: Time, Money, Geometry, Multiplcation, Division, Word Problems, Measurement, Graphing, Area and Perimeter

Science: Land and Water, Simple Machines, Nutrition

Social Studies: Map Skills, The Regions of the United States

Weekly Learning Log

At the end of each day, each student completes a log of what his/her day was like. They write about what was interesting about their day, what they would like to learn more about and why they would like to learn more about it. On Friday's this log will go home with each student. Please talk to your child about their week and what is on their weekly learning log. The students have been very excited to fill these out each day and I know they are excited to share what they did during the week.

About Ms. Schmidt

 This is my 5th year at Edison and second year teaching 4th grade! Before 4th grade, I taught 3rd grade. I grew up in Glenview, Illinois and currently live in Chicago, Illinois. I went to Western Michigan University and am now a graduate student at Concordia University. My favorite things to do in my free time are bake, play with my dog McGee, and spend time with my friends and family. I love giraffes, coffee, the color green, eggplant, math, and watching cooking shows.
