We are studying the changes in America at the turn of the century, including immigration and inventions in the late 1800's/early 1900's.
Unit Big Idea: America changed very fast from the 1870's to the 1920's as new people came to America and cities grew. Inventions changed the way people lived.
Please review these words at home for extra practice as we learn these concepts in class:
immigration: moving from one country to another (students should be able to give one example)
immigrant: someone who leaves their country to move to another country
inventions: new things created out of the imagination
culture: way of life
century: 100 years
communications: the ways people share news and ideas
