tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, and tor-

out if these events can be predicted, what conditions prompt their occurrences, and
what safety precautions might be taken. You will present your findings at a conference of Government Meteoroligists.

What causes this type of disaster?
Can this event be predicted and if so how?

As you research, you will take notes on the Research Guide. After your team has finished taking notes, you will work as a team to create a PowerPoint Presentation.
Your team will create ONE slideshow that will be presented at the Meteorology Conference. The slideshow should contain 4 slides. Please use the checklist provided in the evaluation section to determine what is expected for each slide.
Evaluation
Your team will be graded according to the following criteria
Quality and Accuracy of Research(40 points) -You will turn in your Research Guide to show what resources you used. You must use your own words when taking notes. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
Oral Presentation(20 points) You and your teammates should practice your presentation and be sure to use an appropriate speaking volume and good posture. Each member should be able to contribute one "Add-On Fact" as you present. An "Add-On Fact" is something that is not written in your slideshow but that would help your audience understand your topic.
Slideshow Organization(20 points) Your slideshow should be easy to read and should contain all the components outlined in the slideshow checklist. Remember, Powerpoint presenations are about the Big Ideas and should not contain lengthy sentences or paragraphs. Information should be presented in bulleted lists.
Team Collaboration(20 points) The most important part of this project is that you are able to work well with your team. You will be held responsible for completing your portion of the project and you should also help teammates if you finish early. All team members are expected to be respectful and to come prepared with all necessary materials to each session.
