Student Access

The Madison School LMC is open for independent student checkout every day. First and 2nd grade students are free to come to the LMC (with teacher permission) to search for books on their own. Additionally, all students have an opportunity to find and check out books with their class following weekly instruction in the LMC or computer lab.

Student Checkout

All student checkouts are for a period of one week.

TOPS preschoolers - 1 book per week to be kept in classroom
Kindergarten - 1 book per week
1st Grade - 1 book (Sept. to Jan.); 2 books (Jan. to June)
2nd Grade - 2 books or 1 book and 1 magazine

Library Fines

We do not fine overdue books, but students with overdues will not be able to check out more books until the book is either returned or paid for. Fines only for replacement of lost or damaged books. If lost books are paid for and then found within a reasonable period of time and are in good condition, money will be refunded. Fine amounts vary, depending on the book. Lost magazines are $4.00.

Discipline

Students are expected to follow established Super Hawk Rules while in transit to the library (walking quietly in the halls) and while in the library (quiet voices, walking, proper use of shelf markers and treatment of books). Breaking any of these rules may result in loss of checkout privileges for the day.
