Biographies

Bio4Kids - part of biography.com and The Biography Channel. This site has great biographies on quite a few famous presidents, history makers, inventors and more. In addition, there are short videos about several people, games and informaton on a kids' series on the Biography Channel called "Bio4Kids"! Appropriate reading level for average 2nd graders and up.

Biographies for Kids - a lot of information on a number of "leaders" including presidents, scientists, explorers, women, civil rights leaders and much more. At the end of each biography is a "slide show" option which will allow students to see more photos and documents on the biography subject. Scroll down a little to get to the lists of biographies. Very appropriate for 2nd grade and up. Remind students not to click on the ads that are located to the right and left of George Washington. There is a citation resource just above the heading for American Presidents. Please use when citing this webpage.

America's Story - this page is presented by the Library of Congress. Besides simple biographies of famous Americans (of all types), there is also a lot of historical information, facts about the states, games and even a chance to listen to some "old" music or create your own old-fashioned cartoon!
