Last week, some 2nd grade ELL students had fun learning about St. Patrick's Day. For many of these students, this is their first year in the United States, thus their first exposure to shamrocks, leprechauns and a special day devoted to green! As a culminating activity, these ELL students performed a poem entitled "Five Green Shamrocks." They chose their lines, practiced reading with fluency and expression, and created posters to illustrate the poem. The students were SO excited to perform the poem for an audience of their classmates. It was a great opportunity for these special kids to enjoy some time 'in the spotlight'!
