Madison School students jumped their hearts out in our 5th annual Jump Rope for Heart Event. Jump Rope for Heart is an amazing program that not only raises funds for the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease and stroke, but teaches students the benefits of physical activity and how exercise can lead to a longer, healthier lifestyle.
Madison School raised a grand total of $7,527.55! A BIG thank you goes out to the 116 families that raised money this year and to the parents that volunteered on the day of the event. Congratulations to rooms 16, 21, & 3 for having the most participants in their class and congratulations to our top fundraisers:

Justin Wu (2): $780.00

The Hoffman Family (K,1): $375.00

Leo Tasigchana (K): $305.00

On Wednesday March 14th, our preschoolers and their parents had a chance to learn all about being healthy at our first ever Healthy Kids Night. My Gym Skokie started the evening with a fantastically fun gross motor session in the Madison Gym. After that, families got to explore three classrooms worth of fabulous health promoting activities. In the Eat Well room, students "went shopping" for healthy food, balanced their meals (balance beam included!), and played pyramid bingo. The Keep Moving/Be Safe room featured booster seat musical chairs, exercise dice, and making your heart pump. And last but not least, the Get Sleep/Stay Clean room included glitter germs (pretend glitter is germs and try to wash it off your hands--not so easy), baby bath, and baby bedtime routine practice complete with pajamas, tooth brushes, blankets and books. Families had a terrific time learning about ways to stay healthy and three families who attended won the grand prize of homemade exercise dice so they can keep moving at home, too.
On Saturday, March 2, students from all three schools participated in the all day District 69 chess tournament. Students had fun competing and polishing chess skills.
Congratulations, Super Hawks! Keep up all your hard work!
