Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT)
The Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) measures individual student achievement relative to the Illinois Learning Standards. The results give parents, teachers, and schools one measure of student learning and school performance. As a parent, what can you do to help your child prepare for the upcoming tests? Try doing some of the following:
Keep the calendar clear of appointments and activities that would take your child out of school during testing
Maintain normal routines within the household
Let your child relax or have additional down time after school hours to recoup from the day filled with testing
Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep every night
Provide a healthy breakfast on the mornings of testing
Let your child know that you have confidence in his/her ability to be successful
Advise your child not to worry about the test, encourage their best efforts
Go to iltestlinks to take the interactive sample ISAT online or print out sample test booklets (samples)
Ask your child’s teacher what they specifically do to prepare for the tests and for additional things that you can do to support their efforts in class
